Although Naruto doesn’t enjoy gambling like Tsunade and prefers eating ramen, it turns out that he’s actually quite skilled at gambling and is often blessed with incredible luck.

Unlike Naruto, Tsunade is obsessed with gambling more than anything else. However, she frequently loses and seems to be cursed with bad luck. In fact, Tsunade often borrows money just to keep gambling, which leads to her being chased by debt collectors.

Even though Naruto has won several gambling games, he never developed a liking for the activity and has never become addicted to it.

Meanwhile, Naruto’s mentor, Jiraiya, is also not great at gambling. During a dice game, Jiraiya incorrectly guessed whether the result would be odd or even. However, a gust of wind from Naruto’s third-stage Rasengan training changed the dice outcome from odd to even. As a result, Jiraiya won the game by sheer luck.

Here are 3 proofs that Naruto has a talent for gambling:

1. Naruto Wins the Lottery

During his journey with Jiraiya to find Tsunade, who was being considered for the position of Hokage, Naruto and Jiraiya visited a town that was holding a festival. Since this was Naruto’s first time attending such an event, he was amazed by the many shopping stalls and the large crowds.

Naruto then took out his wallet, which was filled with money he had saved from completing various missions. Jiraiya praised Naruto’s sense of saving, noting how thick his wallet was due to the amount of cash inside.

However, Jiraiya quickly stopped Naruto from spending all his savings at once. After forcibly taking Naruto’s wallet, Jiraiya told him that he would keep it and only gave Naruto a few bills to shop with. Naruto protested about being given so little spending money. Jiraiya then explained the Three Shinobi Prohibitions that often lead to a shinobi’s downfall: alcohol, money, and women.

Although Naruto insisted that he was still underage and wouldn’t engage in drinking or inappropriate activities with women, Jiraiya still scolded him for underestimating the importance of managing money. Jiraiya even warned Naruto that Tsunade, the very person they were looking for, was a prime example of someone terrible at handling finances and that Naruto could end up like her if he wasn’t careful.

After reluctantly handing over his wallet to Jiraiya and agreeing to shop with only a small amount of money, Naruto unexpectedly caught Jiraiya in the act of breaking all three Shinobi Prohibitions at once. Jiraiya was drunk, flirting with two attractive women, and spending all of Naruto’s hard-earned savings.

Because of Jiraiya’s behavior, Naruto’s once-thick wallet became completely empty. However, fate turned in Naruto’s favor when an elderly woman offered him a chance to play the lottery. With his incredible luck, Naruto won the lottery on his first try, refilling his wallet with cash.

Naruto beamed with joy as he saw his wallet full again, while Jiraiya was stunned by Naruto’s unexpected talent for gambling. Jiraiya even admitted that Naruto had an extraordinary gift for games of chance.
