When a devil takes over a human corpse, it transforms into a Fiend. Typically, a Fiend retains its human-like appearance, but its mind is controlled by the devil, and they often have distinguishing features on their head.
However, Power is a rare case because she has rational thoughts. Because of this, Power was recruited to become a Devil Hunter and partnered with Denji.
Here are 4 proofs that Denji is a good friend to Power:
1. Denji Helps Power Save Nyako (Meowy)
Before joining the Devil Hunters, Power had a pet cat named Nyako. One day, while Power and Nyako were relaxing on the rooftop of her house, a giant Bat Devil suddenly took Nyako hostage. The Bat Devil was in a critical condition, severely injured and hiding in the house after losing one of its arms due to a human attack.
In its weakened state, the Bat Devil told Power that it would return Nyako if she brought it a human as food. The Bat Devil needed human blood to regenerate its missing arm.
Power then tricked Denji, making him pass out and offering him to the Bat Devil as a meal. After drinking Denji’s blood, the Bat Devil successfully regenerated its arm.
Unfortunately, the Bat Devil broke its promise to return Nyako to Power. Instead, it put Nyako in its mouth and even grabbed Power, intending to eat her too.
Fortunately, Denji held no grudge against Power for her betrayal. He immediately transformed into Chainsaw Man and confronted the Bat Devil. Although the Bat Devil put up a fierce fight, Chainsaw Man managed to defeat it. Using the chainsaws on both his hands, Denji tore open the Bat Devil’s stomach to ensure that Power and Nyako hadn’t been digested. In the end, Denji saved them both unharmed.
Denji sympathized with Power, unable to bear the thought of how devastated she would feel if she had to fall asleep remembering that Nyako had been eaten by the Bat Devil.
This reminded Denji of his own bitter experience when he thought he had lost Pochita. One morning, Denji searched the entire town for Pochita but couldn’t find him, convinced that Pochita had been eaten by a devil. However, that night, when he returned home, he found Pochita crying and waiting for him. The relief Denji felt was so overwhelming that he fell asleep holding Pochita tightly all night.
