2. Denji Protects Power from Punishment
When Aki visited Denji, who was lying in a hospital bed due to exhaustion from fighting the Bat Devil and losing the battle against the Leech Devil, he gave Denji a stern warning. Aki reminded him that Devils and Fiends are always driven by the desire to kill humans. Additionally, Aki found Denji’s blood splattered on the ground at the Bat Devil’s house, leading him to suspect that Power had harmed Denji.
Even though Denji and Power had only recently become partners as Devil Hunters, Denji willingly helped Power save Nyako from the Bat Devil. However, Power had actually planned to betray Denji when they visited the Bat Devil’s house. She struck Denji hard on the head, knocking him unconscious and causing him to bleed, before handing him over to the Bat Devil in exchange for Nyako, who was being held hostage.
Fortunately, Denji didn’t hold a grudge against Power despite her betrayal. When Aki accused Power of harming him, Denji firmly denied the accusation and insisted that Power was a good girl. If Denji had told Aki the truth, Power would have been expelled from the Devil Hunters and hunted down. Moreover, Denji himself would have faced serious consequences and likely been expelled if his lie was discovered.
However, Aki chose to believe Denji. Later, Aki approached Power, who was being guarded by Himeno, and removed the cuffs from Power’s wrists after clearing her of suspicion.
