However, that wasn’t the only reason Chainsaw Man was defeated. There were other factors surrounding the battle that contributed to Chainsaw Man’s loss. In this breakdown, we will explore the journey of Chainsaw Man and Katana Man, delve into their backgrounds, and uncover the true reasons why Chainsaw Man had to accept defeat in their first battle.
Here are 4 Reasons Why Chainsaw Man Lost to Katana Man!
1. Katana Man Had Already Planned His Revenge Against Denji
Denji’s story began when his father chose to end his own life, leaving young Denji burdened with a massive debt owed to a Yakuza boss. To repay this debt, Denji was forced to work as an illegal Devil Hunter under the Yakuza boss’s command.
Denji’s task was to hand over the corpses of the devils he defeated to the Yakuza boss. In return, he received a meager wage, which he used to make small payments toward his debt and survive. Meanwhile, the Yakuza boss made huge profits by selling the devil corpses from Denji’s hard work.
However, the Yakuza boss was secretly a Zombie Devil who harbored a deep hatred for devil hunters like Denji. One day, the Yakuza boss lured Denji into a hideout filled with zombies and ordered his minions to kill him.
Despite being killed, Denji was saved by a Chainsaw Devil named Pochita, who gave his heart to Denji. From that moment, Denji transformed into Chainsaw Man, a hybrid devil capable of turning into a chainsaw-wielding human. In his Chainsaw Man form, Denji immediately sought revenge by wiping out the zombies and the Yakuza boss who betrayed him.
After the Gun Devil learned that the Chainsaw Devil had given its heart to Denji, it ordered Sawatari Akane to retrieve it. Akane then recruited Katana Man to help her hunt Denji. Katana Man agreed because he had a personal vendetta against Denji due to Denji’s role in killing the Yakuza boss, who happened to be Katana Man’s beloved grandfather.
The first reason Chainsaw Man lost to Katana Man is because Denji was unaware that he had become the target of Katana Man’s revenge. Meanwhile, Katana Man and Sawatari Akane had meticulously prepared their plan to eliminate Denji.
