4. Mitsuki Almost Copies Tosaka’s Bird Egg-Licking Habit

When Boruto and Mitsuki were heading to the mission assignment office, they saw Tosaka standing on top of a tree. Boruto assumed that Tosaka was spying on a woman changing clothes by a window in an apartment. Without thinking, Boruto threw a kunai at Tosaka, causing him to fall from the tree.

Boruto and Mitsuki immediately approached Tosaka, who was lying on the ground. However, they soon found out that the reason Tosaka was up in the tree was to save a bird’s egg from falling out of its nest. It was only then that Boruto and Mitsuki learned that Tosaka was a bird expert and an avid bird enthusiast.

Realizing his mistake, Boruto quickly apologized for his bad assumption and reckless actions. Tosaka accepted Boruto’s apology and proceeded to lick the bird egg he had just saved from the nest. Interestingly, by simply licking the egg, Tosaka could determine that it belonged to a rare species called the long-winged dove.

Boruto found Tosaka’s action of licking the egg strange, but Mitsuki, who was watching, didn’t see anything odd about it. Tosaka then explained that his habit of licking things was meant to analyze every aspect, not only through sight or hearing but also by directly tasting them.

He even quoted a saying, “The tongue speaks louder than the mouth.” However, Boruto strongly disagreed with Tosaka’s interpretation of the saying.

Later, Team 7 and Team 15 were assigned a joint mission led by Konohamaru. Their task was to investigate and stop the cause of the birds’ aggressive behavior in the area. Tosaka, as a bird expert, was chosen to guide them on the mission.

During their journey to the birds’ habitat, Tosaka suddenly picked up bird droppings. He explained that the birds mainly fed on grapes. Even though he already knew this, Tosaka still licked the bird droppings to confirm his findings.

Sarada, who saw Tosaka picking up the droppings, was already unsettled. When Tosaka licked the droppings, she was so shocked and nauseated that she became weak and had to lean on Boruto for support as they continued walking.

After climbing the mountain, Tosaka found another bird nest. He picked up an egg and, as usual, licked it.

The funny part was that Mitsuki, who had been unbothered by Tosaka’s strange habit, began to feel curious. After repeatedly seeing Tosaka licking things, Mitsuki became intrigued and wanted to try it himself.

Mitsuki picked up a bird egg and was about to lick it, but Sarada stopped him by force. She certainly didn’t want Mitsuki to imitate Tosaka’s strange behavior!
