4. Isagi Yoichi Masters the Weapon of Spatial Awareness
Unable to bear Reo’s frustration at being unable to pass to him, Nagi finally decided to take the initiative and move on his own—something he had never done before. After performing a series of dribbles that left several Team Z players in the dust, Nagi passed the ball to Zantetsu.
Following Nagi’s instructions, Zantetsu precisely sent the ball back to Nagi, who had positioned himself right in front of Team Z’s goal. Despite being tightly marked by two of Team Z’s defenders, Nagi managed to score a spectacular goal. As a result, Team V reclaimed the lead over Team Z with a score of 4-3.
In this crucial moment, as the final seconds of the match approached, Isagi suddenly awakened his “spatial awareness” ability, granting him an extraordinary perception to foresee the future on the field. With precision, Isagi intercepted Nagi’s attempt to claim the ball being chased by Zantetsu and Chigiri. Isagi snatched the ball before Nagi could reach it and passed it to Chigiri, Team Z’s left winger.
Chigiri sprinted forward at high speed while dribbling the ball. On the defensive end, three Team V defenders rushed to block Chigiri’s shot. However, Chigiri’s kick struck the right goalpost instead. At an undefended position, Gagamaru stood ready and seized the rebound. The right winger of Team Z launched the ball toward Team V’s goal.
However, Reo astonishingly dropped back to help the defense and successfully blocked Gagamaru’s shot. The ball ricocheted wildly and landed at the feet of Kunigami, Team Z’s heroic striker. With immense courage, Kunigami unleashed a stunning kick. The ball soared into the net, bringing the score to a dramatic 4-4 tie between Team Z and Team V.
Thanks to Isagi’s mastery of spatial awareness, he was able to foresee events on the field and read the situation with incredible precision. He predicted that if Chigiri managed to fire a shot from the left toward Team V’s goal, the three defenders from Team V would rush to block him, leaving an open space on the right side of the defense for Gagamaru to take a shot.
However, to make this prediction a reality, Isagi also had to cover for Chigiri’s vulnerability during a sprint duel with Zantetsu, who was chasing the ball—especially when Nagi tried to claim the contested ball from Chigiri and Zantetsu.
In the end, Isagi overcame Chigiri’s weak point and managed to secure the ball before Nagi could reach it. He then passed it to Chigiri, enabling Chigiri to fully utilize his unmatched speed. As a result, Team Z unleashed relentless attacks that overwhelmed Team V’s defense, culminating in a goal that allowed Team Z to tie the match at 4-4 against Team V.
