It’s no secret that Kakashi is an avid fan of the Icha-Icha novel series written by Jiraiya. The Icha-Icha series is extremely popular and sells out fast. This is proven by the fact that several of its titles have been adapted into feature films, not to mention Jiraiya’s savings, which reached a staggering amount.
It’s no wonder this novel series is beloved by adult men, as Jiraiya gathered inspiration for his writing while traveling the world and conducting “research” by peeking at women in hot springs. As of now, four known titles in the Icha-Icha series have been written by Jiraiya: Icha-Icha Paradise, Icha-Icha Violence, Icha-Icha Innocence, and Icha-Icha Tactics.
Unfortunately, after Jiraiya died in his battle against Pain in Amegakure, no new installments in the Icha-Icha series were ever released. Even so, Kakashi remains loyal to rereading the older novels. For example, in Boruto episode 211, Kakashi is seen relaxing in Senju Park while reading Icha-Icha Violence.
Here are 6 pieces of evidence that prove Kakashi’s love for the Icha-Icha series:
1. Kakashi Always Carries and Reads Icha-Icha Novels
In almost all his activities, Kakashi is often seen carrying a novel from the Icha-Icha series. Whether he’s sitting, lying down, or taking a walk, Kakashi makes sure to bring his favorite book along. Even in the middle of conversations with others, Kakashi still takes time to read his beloved novel.
When Kakashi trained Team 7 to take the bells from him—comprising Sasuke, Naruto, and Sakura—he faced them while reading the book, eager to continue the story of Icha-Icha Paradise. Despite fighting while reading, Kakashi was still able to fend off attacks from both Naruto and Sakura effortlessly.
Even when lying in a hospital room due to exhaustion after using the Mangekyou Sharingan, Kakashi kept himself occupied by finishing Icha-Icha Paradise during his recovery.
Because of his habit of bringing Icha-Icha novels everywhere, Kakashi became involved in solving Jiraiya’s numerical code. As part of the decoding team, Shikamaru believed that the pages of Jiraiya’s book contained clues in the form of a mysterious code that Jiraiya had written before his death.
Naruto then forced Kakashi to read aloud the contents of Icha-Icha Tactics according to the numerical code. Kakashi felt embarrassed while reading it, while Shikamaru couldn’t help but feel awkward listening to the passage.
