2. Kakashi Couldn’t Wait to Read the Latest Icha-Icha Tactics
When Naruto returned to Konoha after two and a half years of training with Jiraiya, he gave Kakashi a copy of the latest Icha-Icha Tactics novel, which hadn’t been released in any bookstore. Kakashi was so surprised to receive this gift that his whole body trembled as he held the book.
With excitement and curiosity, Kakashi opened the pages of the latest Icha-Icha Tactics series. Unfortunately, Tsunade ordered Kakashi to prepare for training Naruto and Sakura, forcing him to close the novel.
Kakashi then informed Naruto and Sakura that he would be fighting them because Tsunade wanted to see the results of their two and a half years of training—Naruto under Jiraiya’s guidance and Sakura under Tsunade’s mentorship. As the team captain, Kakashi had to test his students’ progress.
However, Kakashi suggested that they shouldn’t rush into training, as he was worried Naruto might be tired after just arriving in the village. He advised Naruto to rest first. Even though Naruto insisted he was fine, Kakashi ignored him and suddenly vanished from the Hokage’s office.
Shizune remarked that Kakashi’s sudden departure seemed like the actions of someone eager to finish something important. However, everyone present in the Hokage’s office—including Tsunade, Naruto, Sakura, Jiraiya, and Shikamaru—already knew the reason. They were sure Kakashi was hurrying to read the newest Icha-Icha Tactics.
Kakashi’s decision to delay the training session just to read the latest Icha-Icha installment annoyed Naruto. He felt that Kakashi prioritized reading a “stupid book” over paying attention to his team’s training progress.
