Sakura Haruno is often ridiculed as a “burden” by some fans of the Naruto anime. Reportedly, Masashi Kishimoto, the creator of Naruto, once admitted that he was confused and surprised to learn that many fans disliked Sakura as a character.

From a young age, Sakura had already fallen in love with Sasuke Uchiha. She liked him so much that she even turned against her best friend, Ino Yamanaka, because Ino also liked Sasuke. During their time at the Academy, Sakura frequently tried to get closer to Sasuke and always made an effort to sit beside him in class.

Even though Sasuke was idolized and desired by many girls in the Academy, luck was on Sakura’s side when they were placed in the same team—Team 7. This gave Sakura the opportunity to stay close to Sasuke, whom she adored.

However, their time in Team 7 did not go as smoothly as Sakura’s famously wide forehead. One day, Sasuke decided to become a rogue ninja and leave Konoha. Sakura’s fear of losing Sasuke made her come across as a “burden” because she desperately wanted to stay by Sasuke’s side no matter what.

Sakura often sought help from others, especially Naruto, to bring Sasuke back to Konoha. This sometimes caused the people helping her to face various problems. Not only regarding Sasuke, but some of Sakura’s decisions in certain moments also led other characters to misfortune. Even Sasuke himself once faced an unlucky situation because of Sakura.
