To Be Reborn – Blue Lock Episode 5 – S1
1. Isagi Yoichi Pockets Niko Ikki
In the 15th minute of the second half, Naruhaya’s off-ball movement allowed him to break through the blind spot in the opponent’s defense. Isagi attempted to send a pass to Naruhaya, who was in the striker position, but Team Y’s center-back intercepted the ball with a header, sending it to one of his teammates.
A Team Y player then passed the ball to Niko, but Isagi swiftly moved in to intercept it before it reached Niko. Isagi warned Niko that he would block every pass aimed at him. This left Niko visibly irritated with Isagi.
2. Niko Ikki Reveals His Weapon to Isagi Yoichi
As Isagi continued to monitor Niko’s movements, Niko decided to reveal the concept of “weapon mastery” taught by Ego. Niko explained that at first, he was unaware of his own strengths because he lacked speed and his physical abilities were average.
However, Niko disclosed that his “weapon” for surviving in Blue Lock was his eyes, which allowed him to accurately read the entire field, and his mind, which was skilled at orchestrating his teammates. Despite being tightly marked by Isagi, Niko emphasized that the ideas in his mind couldn’t be stopped.
When it was Igaguri’s turn to be the striker for Team Z, he grew frustrated with Team Y’s constant passing in their defensive area. He asked, “Is Team Y aiming for a draw?”
Isagi analyzed Team Y’s strategy, noting how they always passed the ball from Niko to Okawa. Eventually, he realized that he had successfully disrupted their pattern. With confidence, Isagi told Team Z that Team Y could no longer attack effectively. This boosted the team’s morale, and they pressed forward to win the ball and score a winning goal.
However, Niko warned Isagi that Team Y was about to launch their ultimate strategy. He explained that this strategy could only be used when the score was tied—a transition from defense to a deadly counterattack.
3. Team Z Defeats Team Y
As the second half was nearing its end with a tied score, Team Y began executing their ultimate strategy. After 89 minutes of only having Okawa in the attack, during the final minute, all of Team Y’s players surged forward. Team Z panicked as too many of their players had moved up to attack, leaving only two defenders at the back.
Thanks to Team Y’s cohesive teamwork and quick passes, Niko found himself one-on-one with Team Z’s goalkeeper, Lemon.
Fortunately, Isagi Yoichi’s instincts proved correct—he knew Niko wouldn’t shoot directly at the goal but would instead pass to Okawa. Isagi intercepted the pass meant for Okawa, launched a counterattack, and sent a long pass to Kunigami.
Realizing he couldn’t hold the ball alone while being pressed by two Team Y players, Kunigami passed the ball to Bachira. Using his exceptional dribbling, Bachira bypassed several defenders and sent a cross into Team Y’s penalty box. Gagamaru attempted to head the ball but missed as the pass was too low.
However, Bachira’s cross wasn’t meant for Gagamaru—it was a precise pass directed at Isagi Yoichi, stunning everyone. Isagi suddenly appeared on Team Y’s blind side, unmarked and free. He unleashed a direct shot that successfully found the back of Team Y’s net.
The match ended with a 2-1 victory for Team Z over Team Y.
After the game, Isagi calmly walked past the Team Y players sprawled across the field like a soldier who had just won a battle, stepping over defeated enemies on the battlefield. He realized that his goal had shattered the dreams of 11 Team Y players.
With confidence, Isagi approached Niko and said, “I win.” He also pointed out that Niko’s decision to pass the ball in front of the goal was proof of Niko’s failure as a striker.
