2. Kuon Wataru Refuses to Help Team Z in Their Match Against Team V
Even when Team Z was holding a strategy meeting to prepare for their match against Team V, Kuon boldly declared that he had no intention of participating in the game.
With confidence, Kuon announced that he was already guaranteed to pass to the second stage of the Blue Lock selection thanks to the three goals he scored, making him the top scorer of Team Z. Therefore, he promised that he wouldn’t lift a finger during Team Z’s match against Team V and would simply watch silently.
However, Kuon was amazed by the determination shown by Team Z, who initially trailed by three goals but managed to close the gap to 3-2 in the first half, even though they were playing with only 10 players.
In the second half, Team Z impressively managed to equalize the score to 3-3 against Team V. Kuon’s frustration toward Team V grew stronger as he shouted insults at them, ridiculing them for failing to dominate Team Z, who were playing a man down without Kuon.
After Nagi scored and put Team V ahead 4-3, an unexpected twist occurred. Team Z heroically leveled the score at 4-4, thanks to Kunigami’s powerful goal, solidifying his status as an unstoppable force for Team Z.
The fighting spirit displayed by Team Z in their match against Team V left Kuon in awe. Yet, despite his admiration, Kuon still refused to assist Team Z, as his spot in the second stage of Blue Lock was already secure.
However, when Nagi broke past Isagi—the last defender in Team Z’s formation—and was left with only the goalkeeper to beat in a seemingly inevitable one-on-one scoring opportunity, Kuon, who had been standing silently at the edge of the field, suddenly charged forward and tackled Nagi outside the penalty box, causing Nagi to fall and miss the golden chance to score.
Kuon’s foul shocked everyone watching the match. In that moment, Kuon became akin to a hero emerging from the shadows, thwarting Nagi’s deadly attack and giving Team Z a chance at victory.
