6. After Itachi Uchiha Annihilated the Uchiha Clan
The Third Hokage (Sandaime) and Danzo sat together in a room. Danzo reminded Sandaime that they had agreed to prevent the Uchiha clan from staging a coup. He informed Sandaime that he would prepare the Anbu forces, as the Uchiha clan had already begun mobilizing for rebellion. Sandaime, however, reminded Danzo to focus solely on preparation.
As a result, both Danzo and Sandaime assembled their respective Anbu units. Danzo ordered his forces to surround the Uchiha Police Force headquarters, while Sandaime instructed his unit to head toward the Uchiha district. However, they were all shocked to find the bodies of Uchiha clan members scattered lifelessly, with only Sasuke remaining alive.
Danzo then told the Anbu that Itachi was responsible for the massacre of the Uchiha clan. Danzo spread false information, claiming that Itachi harbored hatred for his clan and had killed Shisui to steal his eyes. He asserted that this betrayal caused a rift within the clan, leading Itachi to take ruthless action and eliminate his entire clan.
Danzo informed Sandaime that Itachi had completed his mission. However, Sandaime was well aware that Danzo had influenced Itachi’s decision. In response, Sandaime revoked Danzo’s authority as his second-in-command and dissolved Danzo’s private Anbu organization.
After reprimanding Danzo and leaving, Itachi, disguised in his Anbu attire, approached Danzo and issued a threat. Itachi reminded Danzo that he had witnessed everything and vowed to monitor Danzo closely to ensure he kept his promise. Itachi warned that if Danzo ever dared to harm Sasuke, he would expose Konoha’s secrets to every enemy nation.
Itachi later held a secret meeting with Sandaime. Sandaime thanked Itachi for successfully preventing a civil war in Konoha. However, he expressed regret that Konoha had failed to find an alternative path to a peaceful agreement with the Uchiha clan. Itachi then informed Sandaime that he would be joining the Akatsuki to keep an eye on both Danzo and Sandaime, ensuring they kept their promises to protect Sasuke.
As Itachi prepared to leave Konoha, his two Anbu subordinates confronted him. They informed Itachi that he had been listed in the bingo book as a rogue ninja. They also requested permission to act as though they were attempting to eliminate him for desertion.
During their staged attack, Itachi was surprised by the exceptional swordsmanship of his subordinates, a level of skill he had never witnessed before. His subordinates confessed that their true intent was to kill him. They believed they were immune to Itachi’s Genjutsu due to their protective measures against his Sharingan. The two Anbu members simultaneously lunged forward to stab Itachi with their swords.
However, their swords did not hit Itachi—instead, they stabbed each other. Itachi revealed that during their very first meeting as his subordinates, he had implanted a precautionary Genjutsu in case they ever betrayed him. The two Anbu members were shocked, realizing that Itachi had distrusted them from the start. In the end, both of them died from their own attack.
