# The Reason Isshiki Did Not Dare to Kill Boruto
To grow the Shinju Tree, the Otsutsuki Clan must use the Juubi as a seed. However, the process of nurturing the Shinju Tree is not as simple as planting an ordinary tree. It is not enough to simply bury the seed in the ground and water it. To transform the Juubi into the Shinju Tree, a specific requirement must be met: feeding the Juubi a living Otsutsuki.
This is why the Otsutsuki Clan always arrives in pairs when invading a planet. The same applied to Isshiki and Kaguya when they came to invade Earth. According to the Otsutsuki Clan’s plan, Kaguya was meant to be the sacrifice fed to the Juubi to give birth to the Shinju Tree, while Isshiki was tasked with overseeing the tree’s growth until the Chakra Fruit emerged.
However, along the way, Kaguya chose to betray Isshiki and attacked him, leaving him severely wounded. It took Isshiki a long time to recover from the injuries caused by Kaguya’s attack. To survive, he eventually inhabited Jigen’s body. Once his condition improved, Isshiki was faced with a harsh reality: he no longer had a partner from the Otsutsuki Clan.
This was because Kaguya also suffered a tragic fate, sealed away by her own children and later by Naruto and Sasuke. As the last remaining Otsutsuki on Earth, Isshiki resolved to continue the Otsutsuki Clan’s plan alone, which was to grow the Shinju Tree and obtain the Chakra Fruit. In this endeavor, he was aided by the Kara organization, which also sought to realize Mugen Tsukuyomi and obtain the Chakra Fruit.
Fighting alone, Isshiki decided to offer himself as the sacrifice to be consumed by the Juubi. However, he had no intention of dying in vain without achieving his goal. As a precaution, Isshiki implanted Karma onto Kawaki. Thus, even if he were to be consumed by the Juubi, Isshiki could reincarnate through Kawaki’s body, which had been imprinted with Karma. He would then rise again and obtain the Chakra Fruit, his primary reason for coming to Earth.
Initially, according to Kara’s plan, Isshiki was meant to be the Juubi’s sacrifice because there was no other option. However, everything changed when Kara received the news that Boruto had inherited Momoshiki’s Karma. A new option emerged.
Isshiki then decided to feed the Juubi with Boruto, who served as the vessel for Otsutsuki Momoshiki. Additionally, the quality of the Chakra Fruit greatly depends on the condition of the Shinju Tree. Just like apples or oranges, only a healthy tree can produce high-quality fruit.
Compared to the dying and frail Otsutsuki (Jigen), the young and healthy Otsutsuki (Boruto) would clearly provide better nourishment for the Shinju Tree. This is why Isshiki did not dare to kill Boruto.
