After Team 7, consisting of Sarada, Mitsuki, and Boruto, was defeated by Deepa in the Land of Silence, Sarada and Boruto were hospitalized in Konoha due to the severe injuries they sustained. Their defeat not only left physical wounds but also inflicted deep emotional scars on Team 7, making them feel weak and incapable of handling threats like Deepa.

Both Boruto and Sarada felt guilty for burdening Mitsuki, who fought hard to save them from Deepa but ended up in critical condition, requiring special treatment from Orochimaru.

The battle against Deepa was a wake-up call for Sarada, making her realize that her abilities were still far from sufficient to face such formidable opponents. With strong determination, Sarada resolved to train and become stronger. She wanted to grow tougher so she could protect her teammates and no longer be a burden to her team.

Here is the story of how Sarada learned Chidori and ultimately managed to defeat Boro and face Cho-Cho.

1. Sasuke Refuses to Teach Sarada Chidori

Sasuke refused to teach the Chidori Jutsu to Sarada because he believed she had not yet met the primary requirement to learn the technique. According to Sasuke, the main condition for mastering Chidori is possessing a 2-Tomoe Sharingan, while Sarada at that time only had a 1-Tomoe Sharingan.

To explain his reasoning, Sasuke asked Sarada to pay attention to his hand attack. He then instructed Sarada to try stabbing at him with the tips of her five fingers. Sasuke easily evaded the attack and, in the blink of an eye, was already behind Sarada. When Sarada turned around to face him again, Sasuke countered with a thrusting attack, making it difficult for Sarada to anticipate.

Sasuke explained that the Chidori Jutsu has a tunnel-vision effect, causing the user to focus solely on a single point ahead, similar to looking through the end of a telescope. As a result, the user’s peripheral vision becomes blurry, making them vulnerable to counterattacks. This is why Sasuke insisted that Sarada must have a 2-Tomoe Sharingan, which provides enhanced kinetic visual perception to read an opponent’s movements better.

In addition, Sasuke emphasized that Chidori is a close-range technique designed to strike the opponent with one decisive blow. Therefore, the user requires advanced skills to anticipate counterattacks. Unfortunately, Tomoe in the Sharingan cannot be awakened through regular training. It can only manifest in extreme situations that trigger intense emotions.

To help Sarada improve her abilities, Sasuke advised her to focus on maximizing the use of her 1-Tomoe Sharingan. Sarada practiced dodging barrages of iron bullets and kunai. Additionally, Sakura helped Sarada train her chakra control, as using the Sharingan drains stamina significantly. Sarada needed to master chakra control to maintain her Sharingan for longer periods.

Later, when Team 7—consisting of Boruto, Mitsuki, and Sarada—fought Deepa again at Victor’s hideout, Sarada showed significant improvement. When Deepa launched a block projectile at Boruto, who was falling, Sarada stepped forward to protect him and shattered Deepa’s attack. Sarada’s strong determination not to lose to Deepa again, along with her dream of becoming Hokage, ultimately triggered the awakening of her 2-Tomoe Sharingan.
