5. Life at Blue Lock
In Room Z, Team Z trained in the gym. Raichi mocked Isagi and Igaguri, who were panting heavily while running on the treadmill at 20 km/h. Isagi and Koun then practiced vertical jumps together, and the result made Isagi feel insecure after seeing Koun’s much higher jump.
At the Blue Lock cafeteria, aside from soup and miso, the participants’ side dishes depended on their rankings in Blue Lock. Lower-ranked participants, like Igaguri, only received natto as a side dish, while higher-ranked participants, like Gagamaru, enjoyed gyoza.
The members of Team Z slept in the same room, each with their own bed. However, Isagi had trouble sleeping that night. He felt insecure because he didn’t have Raichi’s stamina or Koun’s jumping ability. With a burning resolve, Isagi decided to train alone at night. He realized that his abilities were still far from sufficient and feared being eliminated from Blue Lock.
6. Bachira Meguru Tells Isagi Yoichi About the “Monster”
After officially becoming part of Team Z, Bachira approached Isagi, who was determined to practice soccer alone at night. Bachira sincerely offered to join Isagi for some late-night training.
Surprisingly, Bachira gave an unexpected answer when Isagi asked why he believed that Isagi would kick the ball toward Kira Ryosuke. Bachira revealed that there was a “monster” inside him that instructed him to pass the ball to Isagi.
A flashback revealed Bachira’s past before joining Blue Lock. At that time, Bachira played soccer with his school team. His teammates asked him to pass the ball, but in his imagination, Bachira saw that the “monster” had a better position than his teammates. As a result, Bachira held onto the ball for too long, and it was stolen by the opposing team. This made his teammates upset, accusing Bachira of playing selfishly.
On the soccer field, Isagi tried to steal the ball expertly dribbled by Bachira. While playing, Bachira explained that he always saw and heard the “monster” giving him instructions during games. Although Isagi didn’t fully understand what Bachira meant, he felt a mysterious thrill when he received the pass from Bachira that had hit Kira.
Isagi became curious about what the “monster” meant, especially if it could give him clues on how to survive in Blue Lock. According to Bachira, all the world’s top players have a “monster”—that was his belief. Bachira then honestly admitted that he felt lucky to be part of Blue Lock because it allowed him to meet Isagi.
