7. Car Theft Notification
Inside the truck, Higan bandaged Emma’s wounded hand. Higan then asked why Emma was so determined to save him, even more than what Marry had requested. Emma explained to Higan that since Marry’s death, she had sworn to herself to always protect him. After that, Emma received a notification from her watch, indicating that someone had powered on the advanced computer in her car. As a result, Higan and Emma became suspicious that it was the organization’s doing.
8. Mike’s Past Memories with Emma
Jason and Mike were driving Emma’s advanced car. Jason admitted he was surprised that Mike’s FBI agent ID card could be used to retrieve the car from the repair shop without any issues. Mike then explained that his FBI membership status no longer mattered to him because his mission to eradicate crime was far more important.
Jason then revealed that he couldn’t hack into Emma’s car computer because its encryption code was too strong. In fact, Jason believed that Emma was no ordinary hacker.
Next, Emma’s car radio turned on automatically and played the song “Bitter Sweet,” which triggered memories from Mike’s past. At that time, in a bar, Mike was scolding Emma, who was still a new agent, for often acting selfishly and not involving her teammates. Mike advised Emma to treat her colleagues like family and to rely on her senior partners.
Mike then stepped onto the stage and sang “Bitter Sweet,” which made Emma smile. After that, Emma and Mike became close and were able to work together to complete many investigative missions.
Realizing they were being followed, Mike and Jason stopped the car in a motel parking lot. Mike and Jason then prepared to launch a surprise attack on their stalker. Jason got out of the car and threw a firecracker. However, as Mike exited the car, he was immediately grabbed. To his surprise, the person stalking them was none other than Higan and Emma.
9. Emma Comes Clean to Mike
Higan, Jason, Mike, and Emma held an emergency meeting in the motel room. Mike was shocked to learn that Emma was a Kunoichi. Emma denied colluding with the FBI, explaining that she infiltrated the organization under orders from Auza, and no one in the FBI knew about her infiltration.
However, Mike was still angry at Emma, feeling betrayed, especially when Emma asked him to stay close to Jason to keep him away from the truth. As a result, Mike stormed out of the motel room but fell after stepping on a firecracker trap set by Jason.
While treating Mike’s wound, Emma apologized for keeping her true identity a secret. Emma was taken aback when Mike admitted that he understood her duty to follow orders from Auza. Then, Mike showed Emma a drawing by his late daughter, which included a note that read, “I love you, Dad, because you protect everyone from bad guys.” Mike then revealed that his daughter’s message felt like a curse, compelling him to follow his mission.
Mike also believed that everyone was bound to something, and Emma was no exception. Therefore, Mike admitted that he wasn’t angry at Emma for keeping secrets. As her senior, he simply wanted Emma to rely on him. Emma smiled at Mike’s words and admitted that sometimes what feels like a curse can turn into a source of strength. Finally, Emma and Mike reconciled.
