12. Emma’s Funeral & Higan’s Vow

The holographic mask on Emma’s face gradually faded, revealing her true face. Emma was surprised when Mike told her that he would always recognize her, no matter how many times her face changed. As an experienced investigator, Mike promised to teach her how.

Jason quickly called for an ambulance while Higan and Mike pleaded with Emma to hold on. Before taking her last breath, Emma sang the lyrics to “Bitter Sweet,” the song Mike once sang. At that moment, Emma recalled Mike’s habit of always picking up her scattered dolls. She saw herself as a little girl hugging her doll and her adult self watching Mike sing.

During Emma’s funeral, Mike placed Emma’s beloved doll on her body. To Jason and Higan, Mike shared memories of Emma’s life. He admitted his frustration with Emma’s last words, in which she believed she would die alone. Mike also felt guilty for never telling Emma that when he was with her, she reminded him of his late daughter. Emma always brought back memories of his lost child.

Higan reassured Mike that Emma surely knew how he felt because Higan had never seen a ninja die with such a peaceful expression as Emma’s. Higan then set a flame to cremate Emma’s body. With a fierce expression, Higan vowed to destroy Auza.

13. Auza Headquarters

At Auza’s headquarters, Zai and Master Yamaji tensely watched the broadcast of Big D and Higan’s battle from start to finish. Joseph was enraged because Big D had failed to blow up the entire Duck Alliance, resulting in only Emma’s death. Dilly was shocked to learn that Joseph was the mastermind behind the detonation plan. Meanwhile, Zai gazed intently at his Gusoku Gear, which had just been completed and reached 100% readiness.
